Lenders are willing to do so in exchange for the buyer’s agreement to purchase a ‘package’ of REO’s rather than a single property.

The REO investment packages available today have provided a way to profitably capitalize on the U.S. recession. REO packages are easiest to buy and sell with a well regarded source of financing in place. There are many sources of funding for these transasactions including: hard money and commercial financing, as well as non conventional sources such as hedge funds and private investors. What You Should Know About Futures Trading

Futures contracts as they relate to finance is a simple contract devised to allow someone to ultimately purchase or sell specific commodities that will be delivered at some future time. Generally there are certain dates and time frames which must be met in order to be a valid contract.

These types of transactions are never offered on the usual stock market but you would find them on what is commonly known as the futures exchange. They are not considered to be securities in the strictest sense of the word as stocks or bonds may be. They are a type of derivative.A futures options contract or a commodity option is a derivative as well.

The actual prices associated with the various commodities vary according to the supply and demand. If the pork belly crop is not good this year the prices will likely be high while there is an over abundance of coco would result in a lower than normal price. The future date is known as the delivery date while the daily bid on the exchange would be the settlement price.

In a nutshell in futures trading, what a contract states is that the holder can take delivery of the commodity at some future date however the futures must be complied with by the settlement date. At the settlement date the seller will deliver the asset to the buyer whether it is coco or pork bellies or whatever. In order to fulfill your obligation prior to the established settlement date you must offset your position by selling if you purchased a futures or buying back if you had a previous short position which ultimately allows you to balance everything out.

An interesting side note here is that if you purchased a futures contract and do nothing what so ever and the settlement date arrives you could end up with a yard full of assets that you really did not want. Unlike stocks and bonds we are talking real time products here.

 


Why Currency Is Traded?

Foreign exchange market is where currency is traded. When trade in goods and services were limited as in olden days, the system of transaction was through barter. Barter was a system where the transaction was carried out by exchange of goods. But with the expansion of trade, this form of transaction became quite cumbersome. An intermediate between the goods traded was invented. Formerly this was in the form of coins made of metals which had intrinsic value such as gold, silver and copper. The use of coins to buy and sell goods became convenient. The problem was when the value of goods sold or bought were high. It required that much more coins which was just too cumbersome posing a practical problem. Moreover trade further expanded. Something easier to handle had to be invented. That was how banknotes made its appearance to substitute coins. Initially the banknotes were pegged to valuable metals such as the gold standard. But this was later de-linked. Now the value of banknotes comes from the value decreed by governments. These banknotes are issued by banks that are controlled by national governments.

Every country came up with their own currency. International trade required transactions to be made in different currencies. Central banks as well as governments purchased currencies of other countries in order to facilitate the growing international trade in goods and services. Very soon trading in currency increased steadily. The forex trading became a distinct economic activity. The exchange rate of currency was determined by the market demand and supply. More currency traders, money managers and financial institutions began to be entering the market.

Today the foreign exchange market transacts trade in currency worth US$4 trillion. It has emerged as a major global economic activity. Top Moving Average Secrets

One of the most popular technical analysis indicators is the simple moving average also known as SMA, if you learn how to use these correctly they can be a very useful tool to help you to make good trading decisions.

The 200 simple moving average, or 200 SMA, is simply the sum of the last 200 values for each period, divided by 200, this is a moving window, as time moves on so does the average. Notice that I used the term period because this indicator works on any time period in exactly the same way.

It can be used on monthly, weekly, daily, hourly, 30 minutes, 15 minute and on whatever time period you want to monitor and trade. Although the SMA is the most commonly used there is also the exponential moving average or EMA. This is a weighted version of the formula using the mathematical exponent function to give more weight to the more recent values, this has the effect of making it a much faster average that many traders like.

The truth is that it probably does not matter if you used the SMA or the EMA, what does matter however is that you use one or the other and then be very consistent with it. Do not switch between them, it is more important that you learn to trust your chosen indicator then a slight difference in its value.

The SMA is oftern used to determine what the trend of the stock is, depending on the value used it could be a short term, medium term or long term trend. An important point to note is that moving averages are really only useful when the stock is trending, if the moving average is flat, i.e. horizontal on your chart it can become very choppy, this is a good time to stay out of the market.

The general rule is that if the current price is above the SMA the trend is up, if below the trend is down. This is very important to know because it forms the basics of trend trading and trading with the trend.

For the short term trend many traders like using a 5-8 SMA or EMA, here is a trading secret, never trade again the direction of the short term tend, actually this is really just common sense when you think about it.

Moving averages often act as support or resistance, many traders use the 15, 21 or 30 SMA for this purpose.

There are a number of other very important moving averages that you need to know about, these are the 50, 100 and 200 SMA, and this mostly applies to the daily and weekly charts. A lot of big money players in the markets, the mutual funds, investment banks etc use the 50 and 200 SMA as support and resistance, if they decide to buy or sell based on these you need to follow suite, the 100 to a lesser extent. These are very useful averages to watch if you trade EFT’s like an Oil ETF.

A useful tip is that when a stock breaks through one moving average it will often move all the way to the next, for example, if a stock breaks the 30 it may move to the 50 before finding some support or resistance.
